By supporting workers, both formal and informal, and working with companies, governments and trade unions, we have improved working conditions and increased earning power – particularly for women workers who are most exploited and vulnerable.
We have also helped women set up businesses. In 2007 we supported Geeta, a grassroots activist with India's Self-Employed Women's Association, to campaign successfully for a women's only market in Delhi so that women vendors could trade without harassment. We also made it possible for Geeta to travel for the first time outside India, to tell her story to UK MPs.
