The Institute of Politics and Governance (IPG) is an education, training and research centre. It works with government and civil society groups to promote participatory democracy, people-centred development and local governance.
One World Action is working with IPG to implement Bayanihan Sa Kalunsuran (BAKAL), a groundbreaking urban governance programme promoting participatory decision-making, poverty reduction and gender equality across 7 regions of the Philippines.
Since 2006 the project has made significant progress in institutionalising participatory governance, strengthening women’s political participation and making local government more responsive and accountable to citizens in the Philippines.
